Our Instructors


William "mac" McLuskie :: Chief Instructor

Yondan           Fukushidoin


     William is the Chief Instructor of Water Oak Aikikai. He has earned the rank of Yondan (4th Degree Black Belt) as recognized by the Aikikai Hombu Dojo in Tokyo, Japan. He has also received his Fukushidoin Teaching Certificate (certified instructor).

     William is responsible for all instruction and testing. He has been studying Aikido since 1994 and has received instruction directly from Moriteru Ueshiba Doshu, Toshimura Tamura Shihan, Yoshimitsu Yamada Shihan, Seiichi Sugano Shihan, Kazuo Chiba Shihan, Mutsunari Kanai Shihan, Fumio Toyoda Shihan, Hayato Osawa Shihan and Suganuma Shihan.

     William is the developer of Aiki Cane. Aiki Cane is a self-defense format using a standard walking cane and Aikido principles. He is also an active student of Shindo Muso Ryu Jodo, Muso Shinden Ryu Iaido and ZNKR Iaido.

     William has a strong understanding of martial arts and self-defense. As the son of a U.S. Marine he lived on Okinawa, Japan for 10 years where he often had to use his knowledge and skills in everyday life.






Brenda McLuskie :: Dojo Cho

Shodan


     Brenda is an Instructor at Water Oak Aikikai teaching in both the Adult and Family programs. She currently holds the rank if Shodan (1st degree Black Belt). She has been studying Aikido since 1996.

In addition to her Aikido training, Brenda is a certified instructor in Hatha Yoga and Raja Yoga. She is also currently studying Tae Kwon Do.

     Brenda is a U.S. Army Veteran. During her enlistment she was stationed in Mannheim, Germany and also served in Operation Desert Storm. She has been teaching swimming to children and adults since she was a teenager and that extensive teaching experience is very evident in her instruction.

     As the Dojo Cho Brenda has direct responsibility for the cleaning and maintenance of the dojo and it's gardens.




Jason Colvard :: Assistant Instructor

Ikkyu


     Jason is an Assistant Instructor at Water Oak Aikikai teaching in the Family Program. Currently, he is intensely studying for his Shodan examination.
